The Etruscans: A WEEKEND DISCOVERING GROSSETO AND ITS MAREMMA

Day 1 Friday
• In the afternoon arrival at the agriturism in the province of Grosseto
• welcome toast
• accommodation in rooms or apartments
• presentation of the program with slide show (only for groups), and delivery of information material
• dinner on the farm and overnight stay
Day 2 Saturday
• Breakfast in the agriturism
• departure to the beautiful "City of Tuff" Pitigliano and Sovana, to discover the Etruscan civilization and Jewish inhertitance. Pitigliano, a town built on a tuff rock deserves to be discovered through the magic of the old streets and especially of the old Jewish ghetto. Visit to the Civic and Archaeological Museum where you can admire Etruscan pottery. Sovana, peculiar little village of ancient origins that still flaunts the traces of a truly illustrious past. Visit to the ruins of the Aldobrandeschi fortress and the Cathedral. Outside the village you can admire the Etruscan necropolis
• autonomous lunch
• in the afternoon, after visiting the Etruscan necropolis of Sovana, transfer to Saturnia to visit the small medieval town with the remains of Etruscan walls and the various monuments that date back to Roman times
• possibility to bathe in the warm sulfuric waters (37 ° C) of the falls on the way back
• dinner in the agriturism or typical restaurant and overnight stay
Day 3 Sunday
• Breakfast in the agriturism
• visit to the Archaeological and Art Museum of Maremma in Grosseto, one of the richest and most documented of Tuscany, where you can relive, through various archeological finds the origins of Grosseto and its territory
• You can continue with a visit to the city of Grosseto and its monuments (the Medici walls, the Cathedral and the church of San Francesco)
• free lunch
• Departure in the late afternoon

• transfer to the town of Sovana, peculiar little village of ancient origins that flaunts still traces of a truly illustrious past. Visit of the ruins of the Aldobrandeschi fortress and the Cathedral. Outside the village you can admire the Etruscan necropolis
• transfer to Sorano to visit the medieval village transporting us into a fascinating historical and natural environment that makes this village one of the most evocative of central Italy.

During the transfer is possible to make two brief stops to Roccatederighi village, whose medieval center still conserves its walls, the doors, the tower, the castle and the church; and Sassofortino, another medieval village dominated by the ruins of its castle that emerges on top of the hill

• free afternoon (we suggest a trip to the following places: Monte Argentario, Porto Santo Stefano, Porto Ercole and Orbetello)
• dinner in agriturism or typical restaurant and overnight stay
Day 3 Sunday
• Breakfast in the agriturism
• trekking in Castiglione della Pescaia (popular seaside resort with the port and the medieval town still intact) and in the environment of Diaccia - Botrona, one of the richest stations of waterfowl throughout the coast of Tuscany, typical wetland paradise for many animal species
• autonomous lunch
• departure in the afternoon

• visit to the picturesque medieval village of Magliano in Toscana and wine and olive oil tasting
• dinner in agriturism or typical restaurant and overnight stay

• visit to the village of Manciano, on a hill defended by solid walls
• visit to a farm and wine tasting

MAREMMA PARK
The park is open all year round, every day of the week.
Before entering you must purchase the entrance tickets at the Visitor Center. The itineraries can be done both individually or in groups, whether or not accompanied by a guide, depending on the time of year.
